Enveliq

Terms of use

Plain-language terms for Enveliq, free and open-source software written in Australia. The same text is shown in the app at /terms. This is a general summary, not legal advice.

What Enveliq is

Enveliq is software you run on your own server. There is no Enveliq cloud service, no account with the author and no subscription. Whoever installs and runs a copy (the operator) is the one who provides it to the people who sign in.

Licence

Enveliq is released under the MIT licence (see LICENSE). You may use, copy, change and share it, free of charge, provided the copyright and licence notice stay with it.

No warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, and the author is not liable for loss or damage arising from its use, to the extent the law allows. Back up your data and keep your vault passphrase safe: without the passphrase the encrypted data cannot be recovered. There is no guaranteed support.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law.

If you run Enveliq for other people

The operator (a household member, an employer, a club) decides who gets an account and is responsible for how it is used. If you are the operator you should:

  • Connect only mailboxes you own or have clear permission to use.
  • Tell people what is processed and by whom. Employers should check the workplace surveillance and privacy rules that apply where they operate.
  • Keep the server, its operating system and Enveliq up to date, and control who can reach it.
  • Understand that if you switch on AI summaries with a cloud AI service, email text is sent to that company. Local AI servers keep it on your network.

Other companies' services

Your email provider, Microsoft, Google, your single sign-on provider and any AI service have their own terms, limits and privacy policies. Using them through Enveliq does not change that. Enveliq is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Acceptable use

Do not use Enveliq to access mailboxes without permission, to break the law, or to attack other systems.

Changes

These terms can change with new versions of the software. The version you run is the one that applies to your copy.
